Making Dreams Reality
“Sand Hill Foundation has been a long-standing partner to Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco. Sand Hill Foundation has been instrumental in supporting our San Mateo County services to ensure that we can continue to build more homes for first time home buyers.” — Kris Leja, Chief Development Officer
Access to stable housing is integral to the health, well-being, and financial security of families and local communities. For many families, however, housing is their largest monthly expense and financial insecurity and risk of displacement is a troubling reality. Rising costs on the Peninsula price low-income families out of the neighborhoods in which they work and increase economic uncertainty for low-income communities.
Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco has been working since 1989 to build affordable and safe homes that help families not only to live, but to thrive. Recent grants from Sand Hill Foundation have supported Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization Program that provides much-needed home and yard repairs for East Palo Alto seniors. With this funding, Habitat for Humanity is on track to complete repairs for 29 homes within
the year and improve the health and safety of community residents.
The grant also helped fund the planning and permitting process for developing new, affordable housing in Redwood City. The concerted efforts of Sand Hill Foundation and Habitat for Humanity are helping to make the dream of home ownership a reality for low-income San Mateo County residents.
